Meet Stephanie Velasquez:
Stephanie is a compact dynamo, she's not even quite 5 feet tall, but she handles dogs like nobody's business. When you meet her you will have no questions why Stephanie was voted “Nicest Person” in middle school.
A graduate student, she is working toward completing her Master's Degree in Biology at Hunter College. When an undergrad, Stephanie studied abroad in Spain, France, and Italy, with some side trips to Ireland, Scotland, Bulgaria, and Austria. Not bad!
While she studies animal life, Stephanie wishes she had time for pet of her own, but in the mean time she enjoys caring for other people's pets and has many years of experience walking dogs and taking care of pets while their owners are away on vacation.
She especially loves taking dogs to Prospect Park and letting them get their exercise at the dog run, and she loves the way community members fawn over the dogs she walks when they are out and about. She gets to witness many doggy hugs throughout the day because people in the neighborhood are so friendly. Stephanie also swings by Sean Casey Animal Rescue on Brooklyn Bark’s behalf least once a week to check how we can help and coordinate the fundraisers we do on their behalf at least three times a year.
Stephanie loves all her critters and values how special each one is. She says the highlights of her day are each time she picks up a pup and is greeted like a long lost friend. She especially enjoys the greeting she gets from Suki when she shows up for their walk. As Stephanie told us, "Suki becomes so excited when I arrive for her walk. She has a really wiggly butt, not just a waggy tail. Suki makes sounds that mimic human talking! I’m trying to work out a translation."
Stephanie loves helping dogs have fun during the day, and says that If Stephanie works out a translation of any their “words” we'll be sure to let you know!
