I am a Dog. I have a few New Year's resolutions. For my Human.
More belly rubs!! The first resolution I would like my Human to make is to give me more belly rubs. It's the ultimate form of affection and relaxation, and I could use more of that in my life. Plus, it's a win-win situation because it also helps reduce my anxiety and stress levels. And yours.
Well, maybe this should have been first: I would also like my Human to give me more treats. I know, I know, I shouldn't be begging for food all the time. But let's be honest, treats are the best part of being a Dog. And a little indulgence every now and then is completely acceptable, right?
Oh, Beloved Human, please make a resolution to spend more quality time with me. I am not “just a dog.” Like most humans, I crave attention and affection from beloved Persons, and there's nothing I love more than cuddling up next to them on the couch or going on adventures together.
What I am saving for last is really, really important, oh Beloved Human. I like routine as well as exploring and socializing. I have a built-in time clock and doggie smile when I know walk time is coming. Walks are as important to me as food and belly rubs because I can socialize, exercise and explore. If you want to be an extra special Human, please sign me up for a daily buddy walk with Brooklyn Bark. Or at least a few times a week so I can thrive. But don’t cut out any walks we share. Those are special, too. Different special.
So there you have it, my top New Year's resolutions for my Human. I know they may seem a bit selfish, but trust me, a happy dog means a happy owner. And who knows, if my Person follows through on these resolutions, they'll find some happiness and fulfillment for themselves too.
